I was in Athens last year for this game and Georgia fans probably remember the deflating 51-33 loss to Tennessee. This year I’m in Asheville, N.C. on vacation so I’ve kept this entry brief. If the Georgia offensive unit comes alive, this game will be a shootout.

Why there is potential for a blowout:
  • Richt has had a particularly impressive road record in Knoxville at 3-0.
  • Since Mark Richt arrived at Georgia in 2001, the Bulldogs have been an impressive 23-3 in an opponent’s stadium including 9-2 against ranked foes.
  • The Vols are 11th in pass defense at 250.8.
  • The Volunteers suffered a 59-20 loss in Gainesville to Florida.

Why there is potential for an upset:

  • Tennessee leads the SEC at 285.8 yards per game, while Georgia is fifth in the league in pass defense at 184.2 ypg.
  • Senior quarterback Eric Ainge (108-for-163, 10 TDs, 2 INTs)
  • Last year in the Tennesse victory, Ainge finished with 268 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns.
