Introduction: I'm Back
I’m back. It’s been about three weeks since my last post. But, in my defense, I’ve been busy traveling around the Southeast (and Massachusetts on vacation) and writing and editing the football issue. It previews the upcoming college and pro seasons. I wrote about the football program in Troy, Ala., Pinehurst Resort’s Buddy Trip of a Lifetime, Gaby’s By The Lake, the Ritz Carlton’s newest lakeside restaurant, a book review of the “75 Years of the SEC” and Mississippi State’s young quarterback Wesley Carroll. This blog is about the fan experience of a 26-year-old sports writer living in Atlanta. I’ll offer my commentary on Southeast sports, particularly tennis and soccer. I love to cook, especially grill, and I’ll share new recipes and techniques. I’ll also have reviews of bars, restaurants and craft beer in the region. I get excited just thinking about it.
If you look at our pregame bash schedule, you’ll see we’re traveling to a bunch of places this year: Jacksonville, Lexington, Knoxville and Nashville. I haven’t been to Knoxville, though, everyone says it’s a great college town. I’m looking forward to visiting it. My new roommates, who worked for the Tennessee Smokies Double-A team, are planning a pub crawl/tour. In Nashville I’ll hopefully get together with a college buddy at Vandy, who is always ready for a good time. In Jacksonville I’m planning a reunion of sorts with a couple old high school friends. And Lexington is always fun, especially when you are there with this guy.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the blog. Please email any comments or suggestions. I welcome them. –Jamie Lay
